The Property

Les Bruguettes consists of an ensemble of two stone country houses connected by two large terraces and a large swimming pool. The property lies in the heart of the Perigord Noir, one of the still unspoilt areas of France just 3km from the Dordogne River away. Located on a hill in the midst of lush nature it offers a magnificent view to the southwest with unforgettable sunsets being guaranteed.

Both houses have their own kitchen and a total of 5 bedrooms and can accommodate up to 12 persons. This makes Les Bruguettes the ideal place for 2 to 3 families who want to spend their holidays together without close spatial proximity. The swimming pool is about 15 meters distant from the house, so that the activities around the pool do not interfere with the live on the terraces.

Les Bruguettes is the ideal hub for bike excursions, hiking, cross runs as well as canoeing on the Dordogne or Vezère. Hors-riding and Tennis courts nearby, golf course 12 miles away. On site Ping-Pong, table football, pétanque & badminton.

The Pool

Large 5 x 11 m oval swimming pool with unique exposure towards the valley and lots of space to relax or get some sun exposure. Easy pool access through large steps on one side. Please note: pool is NOT heated!.

The neighborhood

In the immediate vicinity: PAUNAT with its unique romanic Abbey, TREMOLAT bordering the Dordogne, LIMEUIL at the confluence of Dordogne & Vezere, CADOUIN and its monastery: all considered among the most scenic villages in the Périgord.

Cultural activities

Worth visiting: St. Emillion - wine capital of the Bordeaux; Sarlat - picturesque Middle Age Town in the heart of the Perigord Noir; Weekly street markets with regional specialties, handicrafts & souvenirs.Numerous caves with prehistoric drawings and/or impressive stalactite/stalagmite galleries, like Rouffignac or Les Eyzies; music concerts in the region or ancient castles along the Dordogne.

The two houses

Large House

Sleeping: All bedrooms are located upstairs. The most spacious bedroom with a 1.80m large bed is connected to a small nursery with 2 beds. Pointing to the pool a second sleeping room is located with a 1,40m large bed. Two more beds are situated on an open space on the way to the sleeping rooms when coming up the stairs. 

Bathrooms: One simple bathroom incl. toilette on the upper level; and one toilette down in the basement

Kitchen: equipped with dish-washer, gas stove, micro-wave and oven, usual kitchen appliances.

Laundry room: Washing machine, dryer, storage space and a big refrigerator next to the kitchen

Heating: a wood-burning stove built into the chimney”

Living Room: Equipped with satellite TV; boar d games at your convenience

Small House

Sleeping: one bedroom is situated at the ground level and one upstairs, both equipped with 1,40m large beds. 

On an on open space in front of the upper bedroom further sleeping possibilities are for up to 3  kids. 

Bathroom: The bathroom is located on the ground floor and is assigned to the lower bedroom; upstairs there is a dressing room with mirror and sink.

The toilette is in the basement next to the bathroom, but separately accessible.

Kitchen: small Kitchen with gas stove and smaller refrigerator.

Heating: a wood-brurning stove built into the chimney

Living Room: Equipped with satellite TV.

Guests about Les Bruguettes

Les Bruguettes is wonderfully secluded in a green, hilly and wooded area. Our expectations in terms of location, equipment and atmosphere of the 2 farmhouses were exceeded. The condition was very well maintained. We felt very well prepared by the landlord and / or the manager. Everything was fine. Thanks again for the many helpful tips for excursions in the area. You have enriched the stay for us as a small family.

As cyclists and river bathers, we got our money's worth. The Dordogne near Limeuil is not far, bathing in the clear water is a dream. When we didn't feel like going on an excursion, our own pool was always inviting and the peace and quiet was very relaxing.We visited the really recommendable restaurant next to the old abbey in Paunat twice a week. Reservation absolutely necessary. - We'll be back with the extended family. The 2 houses offer the best conditions for bigger groups. We are all really looking forward to it. Thanks!

How to reach us / house history

By car:  you can reach the area by a continous highway-connection, going as far as  Perigueux. From there it takes another 28 miles to our house.

By rail: A regional railwayline connects Tremolat or otherwise Le Buisson with Bordeaux St.-Jean main station.

By plane: Next airport is Bergerac and otherwise Bordeaux. Bordeaux airport is well connected with the railway station St. Jean in Bordeaux from where you can proceed as described.

House history and ownership: About 25 years ago our family acquired Les Bruguettes in a joint decision of parents and children. Today the property is being managed by my sister and me and regularly shared with family and friends. Over time we have gradually improved our little paradise and made it more comfortable, even if there is still much left to do. We like simplicity and want to offer  Les Bruguettes at an affordable price to our  guests, who enjoy nature, sports and extended barbecues in nice company.
